White prairie clover

Name: White prairie clover (Dalea candida)
Distinguishing Characteristics: leaves divided into typically 7 dull, narrow leaflets, each up to 1 1/4-inches long and less than 1/4-inch wide
Height: up to 2 feet
Blooms: May to October
Description: This finely leaved plant has a single or, perhaps, a few stem rising from a common base. The flowers, crowded into cylindrical spikes, bloom first at the bottom and progress upwards along the column.
Comments: Plant is taller and more open than purple prairie clover and blooms slightly later. It is common on glades, savannas and dry prairies and is a good food source for wildlife and livestock.
